Grounding Before the Storm
Life doesn’t slow down for us to find balance. Grounding isn’t what happens when the world quiets—it’s what happens when we choose to steady ourselves in the middle of the noise.
The Ground Moves, But You Don’t Have To
In Master of Change, Brad Stulberg writes about rugged flexibility—the idea that real resilience isn’t staying the same, but staying grounded while you evolve. Identity isn’t something to defend; it’s something to grow with.
That’s the heart of grounding in fitness, nutrition, or life. It’s not a static posture—it’s a moving stance. You can miss a workout, shift your macros, or rewrite your plan and still be grounded if your why stays intact. You’re not failing when you adapt—you’re redesigning the vessel so it can survive the storm.
Riding the Wave
When the week tilts out of balance, I try not to fight the wave. Control is an illusion; movement is truth. Resilience isn’t built in comfort—it’s built in motion.
When I start to lose my footing, I reach out. I talk, I listen, I learn. Connection is clarity in motion. Whether it’s a long walk, a late-night chat, or an episode that reframes how I see the world, those moments remind me that chaos doesn’t isolate us unless we let it.
In training or nutrition, it’s the same: grounding isn’t about guilt when things fall apart—it’s about returning to yourself, learning from the data, and starting again with awareness.
Frameworks That Set You Free
Conar Fair, founder of One Peak Creative, shared on The Next-Level Income Show how he went from student debt to an eight-figure creative business—not through hustle alone, but by building frameworks that hold chaos.
He explained that structure doesn’t limit creativity; it fuels it. In fitness, it’s no different. Your framework might be a morning walk, a batch of meals that removes decision fatigue, or a weekly check-in that keeps you honest. These are the systems that make progress possible when motivation fades.
Grounding is what lets us scale ourselves. It turns scattered effort into steady motion—and motion into mastery.
The Week Ahead
Grounding isn’t about silence or stillness—it’s about choosing presence before the noise takes over. The people who seem calm on Mondays aren’t immune to chaos; they’ve just practiced navigating it.
So as the week begins, don’t chase control. Anchor yourself instead. Reflect on what worked last week, note what didn’t, and carry forward the lessons worth keeping. Pour the tea. Put on the music. Take the walk. Reconnect with the people and practices that bring you back to center.
Because when the current picks up again—and it will—you’ll already be grounded.
🎙️ An Open Invitation
If you’ve been reading these reflections and would like to be part of the conversation—whether you’ve been on my podcast before or would like to join for the first time—you can book a slot here:

I’m experimenting with a more open-door approach to guests, which means I’ll be going in blind—no prep, no vetting, just real conversation. Because of that, I can’t guarantee every episode will be published.
I still need to grow the show and align the subject matter with my audience which requires topic research, due diligence, and fact checking (because anyone can have a podcast, but not everyone chooses to take care of their audience’s safety).
But I can guarantee a genuine dialogue and a space to explore what matters most.
